Vitamen, Fertility Supplement for Men

£22.50

Vitamen is specially formulated to help support male fertility and to help prepare a man’s body for conception and is the first supplement we recommend for men when trying for a baby. Just take one easy-to-remember capsule a day, with or after food.

A clever combination of the vitamins and minerals that are most important for healthy sperm. Its unique formulation is the result of our many years of experience in helping thousands of men get into the best possible nutritional shape prior to conception.

Vitamen contains Selenium and Zinc which research shows are vital for healthy spermatogenesis and sperm motility. The new formulation contains lots of other micro-nutrients that are important for sperm health too, such as Vitamin D (which is essential for healthy cell division), Folate, and Vitamin B6 (which help to support the male partner’s immune system).

Who is it for?

Over the past few years we have seen an increase in the number of men with low sperm counts. Recent research suggests that of the 1 in 4 couples who take longer than the average to conceive, the cause, in around 40% of cases, lies with the male partner. Other research has indicated that up to 80% of birth defects are caused by defective male sperm.

Poor sperm health, whether it be a low count, poor motility or malformations, can generally be improved by optimising the father’s overall health and nutritional status. Sperm take 10 weeks to develop sufficiently to leave the body, so planning for a pregnancy should start at least three months before conception takes place. That means giving up smoking, alcohol and social/recreational drugs, checking for genito-urinary infections, avoiding hot baths and tight clothing, eating healthily and taking supplementation, when necessary, to help redress nutritional imbalances. Drinking plenty of water is also important – at least 2 litres a day. Water is a large component of sperm, so a good, regular supply is vital in the process of production.

Directions for use: take one tablet daily, preferably with food.

Ingredients

Eggs

B-Vitamins

Female Fertility: Assists with the regulation of hormonal activity and supports female hormonal health generally.

Male Fertility: Important for the healthy functioning of the paternal immune system and regulation of hormonal activity. Also involved in the normal metabolism of protein and glycogen, plus some neurotransmitters, as well as the normal formation of red blood cells.

Pregnancy & Post Natal: Important for the normal functioning of the immune system and regulation of a mother’s hormonal activity

Oranges

Vitamin C

Fertility: Important antioxidant which assists in protecting both partners' DNA from oxidative damage for healthy eggs and sperm. Also critical for the normal function of the immune system and helps with absorption of Iron

Pregnancy: A powerhouse supporting immune health and collagen formation.

Sunflower

Vitamin E

Fertility: Important antioxidant that helps to protect the egg as well as sperm DNA from damage

Pregnancy & Postnatal: Essential for metabolism and the development of the nervous system throughout pregnancy and if breastfeeding

Selenium

Female Fertility: Antioxidant that helps to protect maternal DNA, as well as proteins and lipids from oxidative damage. Also important for the normal functioning of the immune and thyroid systems

Male Fertility: Important for normal sperm production. Also helps protect DNA, and sperm membranes from oxidative damage, as well as supporting male thyroid function, which is very important for fertility

Pregnancy: A powerful antioxidant, especially important to help protect maternal DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative damage. Also important for the normal functioning of the mother’s immune and thyroid systems

CoQ10

CoQ10 is a fat-soluble compound which is important to our overall health as it is present in almost every single cell in our body. Egg cells have many times the concentration of mitochondria (responsible for energy production) as regular cells.

CoQ10 helps produce ATP which is the energy for almost every biological process in our body.

There are two forms of CoQ10 (Ubiquinone and Ubiquinol), Ubiquinone needs to be converted by the body into Ubiquinol before it can be used, whereas Ubiquinol is already active and many times more potent, meaning that optimal levels of CoQ10 can be restored more quickly and efficiently.

Zinc

Female Fertility: Essential for many of the body’s functions, including normal cell division. Also supports normal cognitive function and the normal metabolism of fatty acids. Zinc deficiency is often found in women with fertility problems
and in long-term users of the contraceptive pill

Male Fertility: Very important for male fertility. Needed to make the outer layer and tail of the sperm. Zinc is lost in the semen, so needs to be replenished regularly

L-Carnitine

Sperm cells have to travel further than any other single human cell and carnitine is a vital transporter molecule carrying high-energy fat compounds into mitochondria where they are “burned” to release their energy

L-Arginine

An amino acid that is found in high concentrations in sperm, particularly in sperm heads. It is the precursor in the synthesis of spemidine, putrescine and spermine, three compounds which are all important components of sperm

Folate

Recommended by the NHS for fertility and pregnancy.

Female Fertility: Important to build stores prior to pregnancy. Needed for the development of red blood cells and DNA production

Male Fertility: Vitally important for the normal functioning of the immune system and for normal cell division

Pregnancy: Known to help prevent spina bifida. Works together with Vitamin B12 to ensure healthy cell-division and normal tissue growth during pregnancy

Postnatal: Promotes the production of new and healthy cells for your body. Supplementation can be valuable as good supplies are hard to get from food alone, especially when breastfeeding
